11/20 December Blog Challenge: What Do I Collect?

what

Actively, not too much these days. I’ve actually been on a pretty good campaign to downsize… with the exception of water bottles collecting beside my bed… or the collection of chip crumbs under my desk… But I can tell you about the things I have collected in the past.

Notebooks: I have a serious addiction to new and cute notebooks. I have so many my fiance has said I cannot buy anymore until I use the ones I have. Really tho, I only like to write on that first crisp page. SO, currently I am not collecting notebooks because I am not writing in the old ones, however I DO have quite the collection downstairs… like stacks… I can understand where he is coming from.

Fabric: I have a growing collection of fabric as well, and I have not been sewing – Kids take up so much time that by the time you have time to do something… its time for bed or you are too tired and want to go to bed. lol. But I do have a good stash of fabrics, Thanks to my mom! I have to wonder…. really is this my collection or hers? considering every time I visit her, my collection grows and hers dwindles. Ha, I lie, my mom has so much I don’t even put a dent in it!

Maybe I don’t really collect anything anymore? I am collecting the Disney princess precious moment birthday train for my daughter. Each birthday that she has, I get her a new figurine. I’m certain that I like it more than she does. But, I do think she will appreciate it when she is older and possibly even look forward to getting the new ornament. And at my mom’s house.. she does have a box full of Star Trek Action Figures that I collected as a kid… and totally played with every single day. Yah, I was am a nerd… and proud!

What do you collect?

10/20 December Blog Challenge: An old photo of Me.

Ok, so this post is supposed to be an old photo of me. Which, technically this is true because I am in the photo and it is old.  Almost 23 years old to be exact. I was around 10, my other sister was 8 and this photo is us meeting my new baby sister for the first time.

Having a baby sister when you are 10 is so much fun. I remember that I always took her to the park, sometimes to play with her, sometimes just so I could show off my baby sister.  I used to get a few bucks allowance back then, and there was a dollar/corner store across the street. I would always spend my money on my little sister. I always bought her a new plastic animal figure any chance I got.  I remember wanting her to be a genius! My other sister and I would always teach her things, usually math. I think we had her knowing her times tables before she hit kindergarten… It was always so much fun teaching her things, and reading to her as a kid. I’m pretty lucky that now I have my own kid that I can read to, and someday help teach math!

I’m sure you all noticed those outfits my sister and I are wearing… yes they are matching! And yes completely dorky…. But, I remember quite liking this outfit… it was like there was a skirt on the bottom of the shirt, and a flowing floral collar… whats not to like?! I was styling. Thanks Mom!

So there you have it, an old photo of me, which includes my two little sisters. 🙂

8/20 December Blog Challenge: Where have I traveled.

Traveling. It’s a pretty amazing thing to do. There is so much to see, learn and experience. Its so great in fact that many people list it as one of their life ambitions. I am no different. I love traveling, the excitement of seeing a new place…. or even revisiting somewhere and the price in knowing how to get around. It’s all so amazing and its absolutely wonderful that we live in a day and age where, although not cheap, pretty much anywhere you want to go is a possibility.

I have not done a lot of traveling compared to some people… but I have gone to a few places. 🙂

Countries I have visited

1. Canada – of course I live here… I have been to all but 2 provinces and the territories ( Newfoundland and Manitoba – in case you wanted to know the two i haven’t been to.. yet!)

2. USA – I have mostly been to the border states. Too many to list… Ill have to just add a map!

amChart3. Mexico – Ive been to places right along the border because I used to live in Arizona and you can pretty much toss a rock into Mexico from where I lived. Ive also been to a resort outside of Playa Del Carman. It was pretty awesome swimming in the hot hot ocean water!

4. Europe – I worked on a cruise ship in 2010… so for 4 months we traveled around to Italy, France, Spain, Tunisia and Malta. It was pretty amazing… Also when I was in grade 10 or 11, I traveled to Italy and Greece and visited turkey. And I had an amazing layover in 2010 in Amsterdam. It was so much fun exploring around and getting a quick taste of another country.

I would love to travel more places. Some of the places on my list are : Japan, Norway and because I want more beaches and swimming.. places like Dominican, Cuba, Bahamas and Jamaica!… I would also like to travel to outer space…

Where have you traveled or where have you always wanted to go?

7/20 December Blog Challenge: If I Could Have One Superpower.

super_powers_collection_logo_wp_by_chaomanceromega-d588tjn

This is actually something that I have sat down thought about! ( I’ve also thought about my strategy plan in case there is ever a Zombie Apocalypse too!) Really though, who hasn’t?! It’s fun to imagine what things would be like if there were superpowers or magic, and you were special enough to have these amazing traits.

It’s a tough choice, what power would you want to have, if you could only pick one. Would it be flying? or telepathy? or would it be to heal yourself? There are literally thousands and thousand of idea’s… really, the only limit is your imagination!

Sometimes I imagine what it would be like if I had a really crap superpower…… like.. the ability to actually SEE peoples farts. It would be a pretty lame power with no real amazing usefulness besides being able to avoid walking into a stench cloud or being able to accurately point out who did it….

What would I choose? It is such a complex decision as there are variables to consider like how strong are your powers…. what are their limits… I have always wanted to fly… That would be my choice…However.. would I pick just that, or would I choose to have awesome telekinetic powers that allowed me to move both objects with my mind as well as myself… It seems like the better choice right?  And if my mind was strong enough, could I carry another person with me? I’m sure that If I just picked strictly flying, there is no way I could carry another person… I chose flying, not strength.

So I think we have my superpower.

Telekinesis – With the power to both control/move objects with my mind, as well as be able to move myself.

Now, what would I do with this amazing superpower? I have no idea… clean my house from the couch? cook supper while playing with the kid? Fly places instead of driving so I don’t have to deal with traffic? All of the above?! I would hope that if I had powers like that, I would find something more useful that putting my dishes away while sitting on the couch, or shoveling the walks from inside the house in the middle of winter.

What would you choose? Think about it, it can be a hard choice 😉

6/20 December Blog Challenge: If I Won the Lottery.

bags of money

My Fiance and I sometimes buy a lotto ticket. We figure for the 5 bucks it costs, it provides us with a few days of entertainment. We spend the time thinking up ideas on what we would do if we won the lottery.

What would I do if I won the lottery today differs greatly from what I would do if I won the lottery 4 years ago. Previously I would jump into a life of luxury – travel, buy a fancy car, a big house, a green dress… but not a real green dress – I hear that’s cruel.

Since having my daughter my views have changed greatly on what I would do if I won the lottery. As I mentioned in my introduction post at the beginning of this challenge my daughter has special needs. So, what I would do would greatly reflect upon that. And of course, this winning the lotto scenario I am writing about would be a significant amount… Like 20 million would be great! LOL.

First thing I would do ( besides flying out and grabbing my awesome friend from NYC – you know who you are!) is probably take my fiance and daughter on a really fun vacation. Somewhere for dad to relax, and our daughter to swim in a beautiful pool everyday!

I would build a house. A house that would be our forever home and a safe place for our daughter. Complete with a custom kitchen where it will be easy to make food stay out of sight and inaccessible.  I would want a large fenced in backyard for her to play in. And definitely a king sized bed for us. I would love a walk in closet and a ensuite bathroom with a separate tub and shower… or just a shower… unless your a kid, does anyone have time for a bath these days?

I would also buy a new vehicle. I am currently driving a ford fiesta that I purchased before i knew I was pregnant…. My car is tiny and is not made for a family.  A mid sized SUV would be great!

I would also donate regularly towards programs and research that deal directly with my daughters rare genetic syndrome ( Prader Willi Syndrome). I would like to make a difference and really help science and community programs work towards having the ability to give my daughter and others like her the best possible future.

Other than that, I don’t know what else I would do. I can really only think of things that I would do for my daughter – maybe hire a personal therapist to work with my daughter regularly to help her reach the milestones she is delayed at or to help give me the tools to do better with her needs.

And probably most importantly, What would I do if I won the lotto… I would max out all our RRSP, RDSP, RESP and TFSA’s so it will always be there if anything ever happened… and then the rest would be put into the bank and we would live on the interest!… hopefully then to never run out of money.

It is nice to dream… maybe someday 🙂

5/20 December Blog Challenge: A list of all the places I have lived.

moving

So to start this blog post off… I should probably warn you that I have lived so many places that I will probably forget a few so I should probably try and start at the beginning and go in chronological order.

  1. Somewhere before Meacham I think some place called Colonsay SK. (1982)
  2. Meacham SK (1982)
  3. Prince Albert SK
  4. Yuma AZ (1986-ish)
  5. Prince Albert – again
  6. Yuma AZ Again (1988)
  7. Prince Albert YET again!
  8. Cobble hill BC (1989)
  9. Duncan BC (1989)
  10. Mill Bay BC (1989)
  11. Prince Albert SK
  12. Regina (1994-ish)
  13. Edmonton (1995ish)
  14. Prince Albert (1999)
  15. Edmonton (2000)
  16. Prince Albert (2004)
  17. Edmonton (2004)
  18. A cruise ship in the Mediterranean for 4 months (2010)
  19. Edmonton (2010)
  20. Oromocto NB (2012)
  21. and finally back to Edmonton Alberta! (2013)

Now, that is only 21 places in the last 32 years… But I can also tell you that in each of those places, I moved around a bit too. Fun Fact : 13 schools total form K-12.

I am really good at packing… and I don’t have a childhood home that I remember growing up in… I remember fragments of my childhood at different houses. Sometimes I think that I missed out on things like having friends that you grew up with your whole life ( though I do have a couple friends that I knew wayyyy back then that I still keep in touch with!!)… But sometimes I also think, How lucky was I!?!! I got to go and do all these awesome things in all these different places….

When I was in grade two… I lived in Yuma AZ… I had a pool in my back yard… which doesn’t happen in Saskatchewan because… it is winter for seemingly 70% of the year. My sister and I were homes schooled during that time, so we basically did our school work by the pool…. yeah I’m jealous of me too!

So there you have it… all the places I have lived… well the cities anyhow. 😉

4/20 December Blog Challenge: What Is In My Purse?

I’ve been thinking about this post for the last couple days. I have been out Christmas shopping, and Christmas party shopping, And I have a kid… so usually my purse has a load of random stuff in it. I did take out all the random receipts out of my purse last night, There were probably twenty loose receipts and shopping lists…

Alright, I just dumped out my purse on the bed… Lets see what we got!

IMG_5272

Wow, OK. No kids stuff! I have to admit that is pretty rare and awesome… and won’t last long!

I do however have:

  • 4 pens… because obviously I need those!
  • A wallet, and loose change that I am too lazy to put into the wallet… Actually If I opened my wallet you would see that it is stuffed full of cards and cards.. and more cards… There isn’t a lot of room to add anything else… otherwise it might not close.
  • Mitts because its winter and I live in Canada!
  • Dental Floss because you never know when something is going to get stuck in your teeth or you need to tie something up 😛
  • Two chap sticks because what if you lose one! I could never be with out it
  • My sunglasses – they are a necessity that I cannot live without.
  • A protein bar and some candy in case I get hungry… because if I get hangry ( angry and hungry) you better watch out!
  • Deodorant in case I forget to put it on at home because I don’t want to stink!
  • A little bottle of lotion that I have never used….
  • A note that I wrote a few weeks ago about a medical appointment for my daughter.
  • And finally… in the center of those pens ( yes I made it so they were all pointing to it…. the crumbs from the bottom of my purse… they are unrecognizable… it was probably something yummy.

So there you have it… the contents of my purse… Usually there is a lot more in there… I am a total purse slob at times… once I forgot a doughnut in there for two days… gross!

Mira

**My fiance came in just as I was finishing this up and i asked him if he could toss everything back into my purse…. He did such a fantastic job that those crumbs that I mentioned…. are also back in my purse… Thanks dear…  LOL!
