Day 13- Day after a lot of food….

So yesterday was a full day off. I did no working out at all. Yesterday was great.

I still got some killer steps in…. even though I left my tracker at home – the husband and I went out for dinner, walked around Whyte Avenue, enjoyed the fringe and I even went on my first high level streetcar ride…. it also helped that we parked hella far away from everything because we originally were going to try this East Indian restaurant that we had a gift card for…. it was closed.

I was super excited to try this place…. next time!

Dinner was amazing. We walked to the King and I on Whyte Avenue. I just love this place, I usually go with my Aunt and Uncle and my uncle does the ordering… so last night I had to call them to ask what my favourite dish was. OMG It was AMAZING. I didn’t count a single calorie. I just didn’t care last night. I had water with dinner instead of a soda or cocktail so I felt completely justified in eating probably the equivalent of two heaping cups of coconut rice and many seconds and thirds of the Panang Kai ( my favourite!)

The Husband and I are at the King and I for dinner ❤

Beef Satay, Coconut Rice and Panang Kai…. So good.. this is helping 1 of 3….

Seriously we demolished dinner… I was so stuffed, but I enjoyed this SOOOOO MUCH!

After dinner we walked back towards the fringe and I stopped in a few shops to look around. Man, I love looking at stuff… I found this one shop that had these paintings/prints on display. Take a look at this artists stuff, I just love it! ( I couldn’t take pictures in the store – so I googled some images for you to look at). If you like her work – Here is a link to her website!

At the fringe we stopped and watched a contortionist. She was called Bendy [EM] and she was a british lady from Australia. She was pretty funny and entertaining and she fit into this tiny box! An awesome show!

The lady was in this box… can you see her? She also has a soccer ball in there with her….
After we looked around at some vendors and spotted the street car! It was leaving in 3 minutes! I had NEVER BEEN on it before! WE bought our tickets. It was awesome!  I took some nice photos of the river and the buildings downtown. Now I can say that I finally rode the high level street car!

Our tickets, aren’t they cute?

The sunset over the north Saskatchewan river.

The new bridge… the new Walterdale I think? I’m terrible with names…. but it looks nice eh!

A football game happening and the Kinsmen Sport Centre…. i took this photo because… well just look at that super low cloud… I’m higher than it is! 😛

img_2281

And there’s me, standing in front of the streetcar. I’m such a tourist in my own city 😛

Afterwards we walked around the fringe for a bit more, looked at some vendors and saw some friends of ours, and chatted a while.  After all of this we were pretty done for the day. Both exhausted and ready to go home.

I fell asleep pretty fast and hard last night. I’m sorry to my husband that got up multiple multiple multiple times last night with not one… but both kids.. I heard nothing… till the morning.

Man, Today was a tough day to get up. A slow day to get up. I wrote half this post before I even went to the gym… which I didn’t get to till after lunch because I played video games with my daughter, chilled out and had brunch with the famjam and just didn’t rush into anything.

But not to worry! I did get to workout. I just didn’t go to the gym. The time just wasnt there today. I still have stuff I want to do with the fam jam, and errands to run later. I did my workout on the floor beside my bed. This was just a lot easier. But let me tell you, the carpet in my room is scratchy and not too comfortable. I much prefer the gym, but its nice that most of what I do is easy to do at home as well. I just didn’t get in a bike or run… but maybe if I get ambitious ill do it later… haha… I doubt it. Theres always tomorrow!

Day 8 – Ran out of time

day8

Wow! I don’t know what happened to me yesterday. I usually run 2-3km then do a workout afterwards. Yesterdays 5km race – completely wiped me out. When I got home, I made the mistake of sitting down for a bit… and then it hit me… everything hurt…. and then I proceeded to have a 2 hour nap. I was seriously spent. But when I woke up I felt a thousand times better.

I just can’t get over how much I enjoyed yesterdays race. I keep mentioning how excited I am to do it next year…and I cant wait for my next race… the next one I am signed up for is in october…. but I might look and see if I can sign up for one in september. Even with Darcy gone, I should be able to find someone to help me out with the kids one morning. ( hint hint if any family is reading this post)

img_2149-1.jpg

My medal from yesterday. It’s definitly one of my favorites. ❤

Today my daughter started her last week of summer camp. I dropped her off this morning… and the good thing about her camp is that it’s also at the YMCA – so I then proceeded to drop my son off for his playcare time with his friends ( seriously – a ymca membership is amazing…free childcare for 2 hours!) and I headed upstairs for my workout.

I rode the bike today. For an hour. I was really into my show and I couldn’t stop! It’s a read addiction!

Plus I did a whole bunch of extra stuff…

  1. leg lifts
  2. plank
  3. crunches
  4. push ups
  5. triceps
  6. biceps
  7. shoulders
  8. standing side abs ( I don’t know what it’s called)
  9. twists

hmm… I think that might be all. But it was a good workout. I felt good. Actually I wanted to keep going – and I would have if I hadn’t looked down to see what time it was and realized that I had 5 minutes to clean up, grab my things and head downstairs to pick up my son. I utilized the full 2 hours and totally ran out of time to do a few more things I had in my mind to do… but there is always tomorrow!

Day 7 – I’m not going to the gym today.

Today’s workout is not going to follow the typical pattern like it has for the past week.

Today is race day.

I headed downtown today on the train. By myself this time as my daughter has swim lessons. So my awesome husband took her with our son and I went to my race. ( they met me after the race)

The weather was cooler today. Probably around 12 degrees Celsius- if you’re American reading this I think that’s around 55 or something close to there. Chilly. But good for running in because you get hot hot hot when running. Or at least I do. And yes I did.

Today I gave it my all. I didn’t beat any personal records- but I tried my best and gave it everything I had and really that’s what matters.  I don’t know if all the results are in – but as it stands it looks like I came in 189th out of  464 ranked participants and I came in 26th out of 88 ranked participants…. The stats page says a bit different because i believe they are counting people who are registered and maybe didn’t show up? Anyhow- My finally race time is 33:10:00 I am pretty happy with that!

Screen Shot 2017-08-20 at 1.35.27 PM

I’m pretty happy with this race. 😀

This was the best race I’ve ever done for liking the course. Right down Jasper avenue. It’s fairly straight and only two turns midway for about a km. All you had to do was go go go. No thinking.

I don’t usually enjoy my runs- I usually think- ugh what am I doing… am I crazy? Why am I doing this? But today the weather was cooler and I actually enjoyed myself. I think I need a friend next year so I can pace myself better. But that’s a whole year away 😜

So now I’m chilling on the couch vegetating. My whole body is sore… especially my toe that was bleeding when I took my sock off- I guess my nail was jabbing into it for the whole race…. but I couldn’t stop… lol.   Fought through the pain and finished. Priorities hahahah!

That’s enough of a work out for today! Here are some photos from my race day.

My daughter and I sitting in Canada place after my race 🙂

The finish line… I was watching people cross the finish as I waited for my 5km to start.

People gathering at the start line

Waiting for my race to start. There was a lot of people there today!

See you tomorrow!

Day 5 – Just a friday at the gym

image1

Yesterday was a rest day, and although I was only on the bike – I got carried away and watched over an hour of my asian drama. They are only 15-16 minute episodes, and I just kept pressing “play next” sometimes its just hard to stop. I kept my “workout” light by just going at a leisure pace on the bike on minimum resistance. I didn’t work up a sweat, but it was still nice to be a little active in a relaxed atmosphere.

Today I am back on the challenge and I was supposed to do the bike again… however I didn’t look at my sheet and went for a run/walk. I mostly walked today as my sciatic is bothering me a lot and I just didn’t feel like irritating it further.

The rest of my workout included:

  1. Biceps 10×3
  2. Shoulder press  10×3
  3. Triceps  10×3
  4. 15 leg raises
  5. 15 crunches
  6. 15 push-ups
  7. 20 twists
  8. 30 seconds plank
  9. Bosu ball exercises ( about 10 mins of various things)

I skipped out of stretching today… which really was a mistake – I am thinking of getting a foam roller… I think that might help me alleviate some of my leg and sciatic pain. Today its the worst its been in a long time – it feels like it’s cramping into my toes.

One really great things about today that I should mention. Back in May for mother’s day my gym gave me a 2 week plus membership to use whenever iI wanted. I activated it today… so I got to use the fancy change rooms…. I have to bring my swim suit next time to take advantage of the hot tub…. However, I may have noticed that most people do it in the buff…. Is this typical? Maybe I should just forget about the swim suit and join in like everyone else… I honestly am not sure what is normal. What do you think? swim suit or no swim suit? I.m just not sure….

Alright. I guess today’s workout and post is complete! See you tomorrow!

Day 3! Withdrawls

Day-3-again

Look at this, three days in a row! Not that we should be surprised… I don’t like failing – so I will be here everyday for the next 60… well 57 now!

One thing I always have trouble with when starting these challenges is the detox.

I joke that it’s the vodka withdrawals that really get me, but in all truthfulness, its the sugar. I drink a lot of juice, pop(Pepsi mostly), slurpees, and eat a lot of junk. Its terrible. Sugar is a real addiction – one that’s hard to resist because it’s so good.

pepsi_PNG8.png

For this challenge, I have given up pop and as it stands I am not drinking juice or anything sweetened… its only water for me for right now. Which is not my favourite thing to drink… even with lemon or something in it… it’s just not… sugary. lol. But I am doing it, and I will continue to do it for this challenge.

I am hoping itll only take a few more days for my body to get used to the lack of sugar in it… though I do have some fruit to curb the jitters. LOL. Which is a much better option than a Pepsi… which I would obviously need to add vodka to or something 😛

Ok! So todays workout!

  1.  25 minute run
  2. 6 min cool down walk
  3. Biceps  10×3
  4. Shoulder press 10×3
  5. 12 leg raises
  6. 12 crunches
  7. 12 push-ups
  8. 20 twists
  9. 30 seconds plank
img_2035

I’m not very fast… but I do my best! Someday I might be faster! 😛

I didn’t have time for stretching or triceps today as I promised my daughter I would take her to IKEA… and that trumps my workout. LOL, If I feel bad about it later – Ill sneak it in somewhere… but I doubt I will feel bad – haha!

Till next time!

My workout for Day 1

As promised, I am here to share my workout with everyone. My accountability that I actually went and did something and didnt actually hide in my room and sleep all day… even though that would be preferable, I am super exhausted today. But I went, I did, and I succeeded… even though I forgot my workout plan at home 😜

Aren’t my shoes pretty? I seriously love them! 💜

Here is my workout.

At the gym:

  1.  25 minute run
  2. 6 min cool down walk
  3. Biceps 10lbs 10×3
  4. Shoulder press 10lbs 10×3
  5. Triceps 12.5 10×3
  6. Stretching 5 minutes.

Don’t I look amazing after running for 25 minutes… 😜

Time to pick up some heavy stuff!

At home because I forgot my workout page of the stuff I wanted to accomplish ( I googled fitness challenges and then made one up from there adjusting to my needs the run was on the challenge and I remembered how long to go for while at the gym :))

  1. 10 leg raises
  2. 10 crunches
  3. 10 push-ups
  4. 15 twists
  5. 20 seconds plank

Does this seem like a good workout for day 1? I definitely didn’t want to over do it. I didn’t want to push too hard that my motivation for tomorrow would be gone and I would dread my next workout.

I could feel myself struggle today. The weights felt heavy and I felt shaky. It’s been a while since I lifted any weights and I can guess it’ll take me a bit of time to get back into it. But today was only the first day- it will happen- I just have to keep going!

Next workout tomorrow morning!

OK! Day 1! Here we go!

Ok!

Here it is!

Day One of my 60 day challenge.

day-1

I am usually pretty excited about these challenges. I am always all gung-ho and start off with an obscene amount of motivation, determination and energy.

I have to admit to you all, I am a little nervous about this.

This, I believe will be my my longest challenge. Definitely my longest challenge that I will be doing alone, and its going to take some fancy juggling to manage both this challenge, and the kids.  I am a little stressed about finding time to workout with the kids hanging around me all the time. Weekdays will be alright – I am concerned about the weekends… Luckily for most of the time, I have respite on Saturday evenings… so this might help! 🙂

But why worry about something that is still days away! I will find a way to make everything work out – I always do 🙂

Soooooo…… Lets get this started!

Firstly I want to share with you a 3D image I made online using 3Dmyself.com. I got to customize it to my features…and size based on my measurements. I feel it still doesn’t really look like me… but close enough! LOL.

3DMyself_Image copy

Now, obviously this isn’t perfect. And I cropped out my current weight as well as my goal weight as I don’t think they are that important or relevant to anyone but myself.  I will mention that it is my “Goal” to loose approximately 26lbs. haha – yes specific , I know! Now, I have no intention of losing this 26 lbs in 6 weeks – Thats crazy talk and not at all healthy.  Maybe by Christmas if I can keep things up after this 60 day challenge.

I haven’t done my workout yet today, but I am leaving shortly to go and do it. There will be another blog post later today, and I will share what I did during my workout.

So, I guess that I will see you all later!
