Operation : Declutter!

You ever look around your house and think “why do I have so much stuff?”

This has been on my mind for quite some time. It might be my husband rubbing off on me, as I was once a sentimental person who kept absolutely everything… but now, i just look at stuff and think, when can I get rid of it?

However, I have a hard time getting rid of things. I am always worried that I might need them… like that bag… or two of computer cords that I’ve had kicking around for the last 10 years…. sure, they came in handy last year when my computer crashed and I was having a hard time getting the information from my hard drive and I needed to build a HDD bay to plug into a new computer, but nothing was cooperating… yes! one time in 10 years that bag came in handy…

I need to learn to let go of things. To realize that I don’t need them, and that it is ok to recycle or donate them.

I want an uncluttered house. I want only thing things I actually want and need.

The trouble is, the actual work that goes into organizing a household. Actually having the time to declutter each room and organize the things you have. It takes time, a lot of time. Ive been doing a little here and a little there… though I feel like I haven’t even chipped the surface yet.  Two kids, one with special needs, one thats 18 months and discovering is love for being a terror… they are very time consuming. Not that I am making excuses and blaming the kids, I just am having a hard time myself – finding the time – finding the motivation – finding the energy to tackle everything.

How would you tackle the challenges of organizing your house?

Hopefully over the next few days I am going to devise a plan of action – and soon there after start it. A cluttered home gives me a lot of stress and anxiety, and I know how good i feel when I get something organized… so it’s my mission.

Operation : Declutter!

Starting soon!

  1. I am the same way. I feel like I need to keep EVERYTHING because I might one day need something or because it holds sentiment. (Last year I got rid of my old Cosmos but I refuse to let go of my old YM Magazines. <– What if I need to reflect on my childhood or teenage years one day and everything I know is contained in those old magazines??) I need to be proactive and I am slowly letting go. Slowly. Like baby sloth steps.

  2. That is sad! How times have changed. lol.
